Trenta set graus i va a la font per aigua,
lenta, la mula. De dalt del rocam
se li'n riu el diable. Mor el peix
dins el poal. La mula, ja ho sabem,
no l'ha de plànyer (és cega i parla poc).
"No vulgueu repartir-vos el meu vi",
diu taciturna, amb uns ulls com de peix.
Camina estèril dins la vinya negra,
entre pols i ferralla, sense amor,
la mula blasfemant contra el Gran Sol.
